Steve Walker has been hooked on the thrill of creating images on film, video, and digital media for over thirty years. His professional career spans many different disciplines, with a primary emphasis on filmmaking, motion graphic design and animation, and visual effects. He became an independent filmmaker and effects cameraman after studying photography, design, and film production in Illinois, and has been working in the commercial and broadcast industry in Atlanta since 1979.
He jumped into computer graphics during its fledgling days in the mid-80s and spent several years working on award winning commercial and broadcast projects involving all aspects of computer animation, image processing, compositing, film integration, and motion graphics design.
Steve came to Turner Studios as Director of Visual Effects and Animation in 1997, from DESIGNefx in Atlanta, and led both the CGI and Film Effects departments through several years of growth while also working as director, effects supervisor, and digital artist on several major projects. But, realizing a few years into it that production and the creative world still ran through his blood, he voluntarily left the management scene to become a staff director and visual effects supervisor. He left Turner in late 2006 and has been working freelance since then.
In addition to his professional work, Steve continues to explore the creative applications of film, storytelling, design, and digital imaging technology by producing and contributing to various independent art/media projects.
